Yoga & Fitness Studio Software: An Honest Feature Comparison (2026)

Eight platforms across sixteen capabilities, rated on depth and maturity — an opinionated, public-source comparison to help you find the right fit, not crown a winner.

Which studio platform is "best"? Wrong question. Each of these tools is genuinely strong somewhere, and the right one depends entirely on the studio you run. What follows is our read on how deep and mature sixteen capabilities are across eight platforms — an opinion meant to help you shortlist, not a verdict.

If you haven't yet, start with how to choose studio software for the framing. This post is the detail.

Read this first: it's our best guess, not a verdict

Three things are true at once in this category, and they shape every rating below:

  • Features move fast — a "no" today can be a "yes" next quarter, and marketing pages often run ahead of what's actually live.
  • Tiering is murky — the same feature can be free on one product and a pricey add-on on another, and you often can't confirm what's "included" without a sales call.
  • More features is not the scorecard — a feature built for a 40-location franchise is the wrong shape for a single-room studio, and the reverse.

So every rating here is an opinion about depth and maturity, nothing more. Add-on-gated or shallow implementations are scored lower on purpose. If you run one of these platforms and we got something wrong, please send the correction.

Ratings reflect depth and maturity, not whether a feature technically exists. Tandava is rated conservatively against what is genuinely shipped today.

The one-paragraph read on each

Mindbody — the incumbent. Twenty-plus years of depth in scheduling, contracts, POS, and enterprise multi-location. Its real edge is the large consumer marketplace, not the feature list. Marketing, leads, and advanced analytics are real but gated to the upper tiers. (mindbodyonline.com)

Arketa — modern, wellness-first. Best-in-class white-label app (iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku) and genuinely strong video, events, and retreats in the base tier. Weak spot is integrations: many connectors and Zapier, but no documented open public API. (arketa.com)

Momence — video- and LMS-heavy. Flagship strength is native on-demand video and courses, plus a top-rated consumer app. Reporting is the consistent soft spot, and website tooling is embed-only. Now part of Xplor Technologies after acquisition. (momence.com)

WellnessLiving — the "Mindbody alternative." The most complete on paper, and it backs it on reporting, forms, widgets, and multi-location. The honest gap is video: livestream (FitLIVE) and on-demand (FitVID) are separate paid add-ons. (wellnessliving.com)

Vagaro — broad and transparent. The horizontal generalist with the strongest retail/POS and a true website builder at this price. CRM and lead pipeline are the shallow part. Most transparent pricing in the set. (vagaro.com)

Glofox (ABC Glofox) — app-first, franchise-minded. Strong on the branded app and multi-location, which is the ABC Fitness DNA. Trade-offs: shallow video, no real website builder, and no standalone AI suite yet. Most pricing is quote-gated. (glofox.com)

Walla — boutique-studio favorite. Strong-to-full across the board, with a clean-UX reputation, real retention AI (WallaPredict), and tidy payment economics. Integration breadth is narrower than Vagaro's but modern. Founded 2020 by ex-Mindbody people; independent as of June 2026. (hellowalla.com)

Tandava — open source, V1 alpha (that's us). Our project, and the honest outlier. Genuinely working today: scheduling, memberships and class packs, staff/payroll, waivers with digital signatures, multi-location, an embeddable booking widget, a CSV importer that reads Mindbody/Momence/Walla exports, and workshop checkout with tiered and deposit pricing. Not built yet: retail POS, branded/white-label apps, on-demand video, and AI. It is a single-maintainer V1 alpha (AGPL-3.0) and not a drop-in replacement for any platform here — we include it for honesty, not parity. (github.com/TaylorONeal/tandava)

A quick ownership note

One conflation worth clearing up: Glofox and Walla are not the same company and did not combine. Glofox is owned by ABC Fitness Solutions (acquired August 2022); Walla is an independent, VC-backed competitor that raised a strategic round in October 2025. As of June 2026 there's no public deal putting Walla under ABC or anyone else. (ABC/Glofox, Walla raise)

The honest summary

WellnessLiving and Walla look the most complete across the board, for different buyers: WellnessLiving leans deep, reporting-heavy, and multi-location; Walla is the boutique favorite with the cleanest UX and strongest retention AI. Mindbody stays the depth incumbent, though much of its strength lives in the upper tiers and in its marketplace. Vagaro is the transparent generalist with real retail and a true website builder. Arketa and Momence are the modern, video-and-events-forward challengers yoga studios keep shortlisting. Glofox is app-first and franchise-minded. And Tandava is the open, honest outlier — useful, evolving, and deliberately not pretending to be any of them.

Feature depth and price are two different questions, and conflating them is how studios end up overpaying for boxes they'll never check. The money side — transaction cuts, app-store mechanics, and what a platform fee is actually worth — is its own post.

How to read this comparison

Our honest opinion, offered to help — not a verdict, and not legal advice.

  • Public information only, sourced and checked June 2026; secondhand or sales-gated figures are labeled.
  • Opinion is labeled as opinion — ratings are a read on depth and maturity.
  • This category moves fast — verify anything material with the vendor.
  • We make one of these (Tandava), so we have a bias and rate ourselves conservatively.

Underlying ratings draw on each vendor's official site plus Capterra, G2, and GetApp listings, cross-checked June 2026; Tandava's come from its public repository. Where we couldn't confirm a capability, we scored conservatively rather than guessing generously. All trademarks belong to their owners; we're not affiliated with any platform mentioned.
